Had the opportunity to work on more character concepts for an upcoming Indie game made by Jamin Games Studio, Skelemental: Monk's Fury
"Forest Samurai"
Based on the Japanese yōkai "Tengu", focusing on having wind-based abilities and a birdlike appearance. His clothes have feathers, a bird mask and curled gray hair to reinforce that idea.
The feathers are intentionally shown falling apart, symbolizing how the character has slowly broken down due to the forest corruption. This is visually represented through the vines that now cover his body and the veins turning purple, telling us that the corruption has overtaken him as he lost control.
Two of his most important visual traits are his long, wavy hair and the curled vines wrapped around his body, creating a recognizable silhouette.
This character is a mini-boss encounter that rewards patience, timing and skill. The fight teaches spacing discipline and punishing timing, as well as the importance of parries and perfect dodges.
Really proud of working on this piece. I keep learning and improving a lot while working with the team. My workflow keeps improving and I keep getting more productive and efficient.
Got permission to post this before the game comes out.
